Towing Service Areas Around Fresno

One number covers the city, Clovis, and the county towns along the highways. Here is who has jurisdiction where, which matters a lot if your car goes missing.

Dispatch covers Fresno and the surrounding Fresno County towns. The useful part of this page isn't the list, it's the jurisdiction: four different authorities order tows around here, and knowing which one covers your street saves an hour of phone calls when a car disappears.

Fresno proper

The core service area, and the one most calls come from. Inside city limits, police-ordered tows are logged at findmytowedcar.org/fresno and released through the tow yard, not the station. Coverage runs from the Tower District and Downtown out to Woodward Park in the north, Sunnyside and Kings Canyon Road in the southeast, and West Fresno across 99. The commercial strips generate the most breakdown calls: Blackstone, Shaw, Herndon, and Ventura. Full detail on recovery steps is on the impound help page.

Clovis

Clovis sits about six miles northeast of downtown Fresno and runs its own police department, its own tow ordinance, and its own release desk with limited hours. That last detail catches people out: a Friday-evening tow in Clovis often means the car sits until Monday morning. We wrote a full page on it: towing in Clovis, CA.

North county: Madera and the 99 corridor

Madera sits up 99 past the San Joaquin River, in a different county with its own sheriff and PD. We run tows to and from Madera regularly, usually shop deliveries and breakdowns on the 99 stretch between Herndon and Avenue 12. If your car was towed on that stretch and CHP was on scene, it went to a CHP rotation operator, not to a company you chose.

South county: Sanger, Selma, Kingsburg, Fowler, Parlier

The farm towns strung along 99 and 180 southeast of the city. Each has its own small police department, and unincorporated stretches between them fall to the Fresno County Sheriff. Long-distance runs from these towns into Fresno shops are routine work; distance sets the price, so the quote comes before the truck rolls.

West county: Kerman, Firebaugh, Mendota, Coalinga

Thinly served territory west of Fresno, where the gap between tow trucks is measured in tens of miles. Breakdowns on the I-5 and 180 west stretches are the common call. Response times here are honestly longer than in the city, and dispatch tells you the real number rather than a comfortable one.

East county: Reedley, Dinuba, and the 168 foothills

Kings Canyon Road and 168 climb toward the Sierra. Summer weekends bring breakdowns on the way up and brake trouble on the way down, plus motorcycles and dirt bikes from the staging areas. Bike transport from foothill trailheads is a regular job, provided a truck can reach where the bike sits.

The highways, whatever town they run through

CA-99, CA-41, CA-168 and CA-180 carry most of our emergency volume. Freeway tows work differently: if CHP arrives before you arrange your own truck, the call goes to the next operator on the CHP rotation list. That is a real system with vetted operators, but it means the destination is often a storage yard rather than your mechanic. The towed-car guide explains how rotation works and how to get ahead of it.

Not sure we cover you?

Call (559) 552-8152 and say where you are. If the job is outside what we can reach in a reasonable time, dispatch says so on that call instead of sending a truck on a two-hour drive and billing you for it. Service list is on the services page, and common questions are grouped in the FAQ hub.
